Total knee replacement in knee arthritis with fixed flexion deformity

نویسندگان

چکیده

Fixed flexion deformity of knee secondary to osteoarthritis occurs mainly due posterior soft tissue tethering and/or contracture especially capsule rather than bony changes. A the leads functional, biomechanical and gait impairments that interferes with normal daily activities patients decrease their satisfaction after TKR. Correction FFD is mandatory during TKR replacement optimize postoperative results. The intraoperative correction steps differ among surgeons no consensus adopted regarding ideal method. So, for good a sequential stepwise approach should be which concentrates on tissues bone cuts.

Natural history of fixed flexion deformity following total knee replacement: a prospective five-year study.

We investigated fixed flexion deformity (FFD) after total knee replacement (TKR). Data relating to 369 cruciate-retaining unilateral TKRs performed at a single institution were collected prospectively. Fixed flexion was measured pre-operatively and at one week, six months, 18 months, three years and five years after surgery. Using binary logistic regression, pre-operative FFD was a predictor of...

Mobile- vs. fixed-bearing total knee replacement

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE It is unclear whether mobile-bearing (MB) total knee arthroplasties reduce the risk of tibial component loosening compared to fixed-bearing (FB) designs. This randomized study investigated implant migration, periprosthetic bone mineral density (BMD), and patient-reported outcomes (Oxford knee score)-all at 2 years-for the P.F.C. Sigma Cruciate Retaining total knee arthrop...

Computer-assisted total knee replacement in patients with arthritis and a recurvatum deformity.

We retrospectively reviewed the records of 1150 computer-assisted total knee replacements and analysed the clinical and radiological outcomes of 45 knees that had arthritis with a pre-operative recurvatum deformity. The mean pre-operative hyperextension deformity of 11° (6° to 15°), as measured by navigation at the start of the operation, improved to a mean flexion deformity of 3.1° (0° to 7°) ...
